Become a Nonprofit Partner

Is your nonprofit, school, or government agency looking for volunteers?  If so, we are eager to partner with you and support you in your mission! The first step is to register your agency as one of our nonprofit partners.

Our Nonprofit Partners must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an IRS designated 501(c)(3) non-profit, school or government agency.
  • Carry general liability insurance.
  • Not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual preference, national origin, age, or the presence of a non-related medical condition or disability.

L.A. Works does not recruit or refer volunteers to:

  • Work with private individuals independent of an agency.
  • Take part in political campaigns or work that can be viewed as overtly political.
  • Make direct financial asks as part of fundraising activities.
  • Take part in direct religious activity or proselytizing.
  • Serve in administrative or staff positions for agencies (clerical help, secretarial, web designers, grant writers) or replace paid workers.

How L.A. Works Can Support Your Agency

Volunteer Referrals
L.A. Works can post your need for volunteers on our website as a volunteer referral. If it is a date-specific need it will appear on our Volunteer Calendar; if it is an ongoing programming need it will be listed in our Community Connections. This will allow for visitors to our website to learn about your volunteer opportunities and to get connected by clicking on the "Have Agency Contact Me" link. You will then receive notification along with the contact information of the interested volunteer, and you take it from there. To post a volunteer referral, download and complete our Volunteer Referral Form and email to gil@laworks.com.

Managed Projects
L.A. Works can also create a managed volunteer project at your agency. A managed project occurs on a regular basis (at least once per month) and is coordinated and led by an L.A. Works' Project Leader. Project Leaders are volunteers who receive training and information to act as the liaison between L.A. Works, your agency, and volunteers. They are responsible for monitoring volunteer registration and communicating with volunteers, developing engaging project activities, leading the volunteers on-site during the project and handling all of the adminitsrative chores. Managed projects can provide your agency with a regular source of volunteers without your staff having to expend any of its limited resources. To submit a proposal to develop a managed project, download and complete our Project Proposal Form and email to gil@laworks.com.

Days Of Service
L.A. Works also coordinates single-day Day of Service projects throughout the year that involve from 50 to 1,000 volunteers. These Day of Service projects take place at a nonprofit partner site such as a school, community center or transitional living facility. These projects are custom-designed to fit our nonprofit partner's needs and range from serving the homeless, painting murals, planting community gardens and reading to children to large-scale facility beautification and makeovers of libraries, schools and community centers. If you are interested in having a Day of Service project at your site, email Porsha Pearson at porsha@laworks.com.

If you have additional questions about partnering with L.A. Works, contact Gibert Gonzales at 323-224-6510.
