Signature Days of Service

L.A. Works annual days of service gather thousands of Angelenos to build the community through a variety of service projects, including neighborhood beautification and literacy improvement. Through these service days, your business can build its brand and culture while receiving public recognition in event advertising, newsletters, website, and social media.

Build Your Brand and Your Employee Culture

Throughout the year L.A. Works celebrates the spirit of service by bringing together volunteers, nonprofit partners, and corporate volunteer teams in a Day of Service to the city of Los Angeles. Our two signature events are:

  • L.A. Works Day takes place during the summer and is Los Angeles' longest-running annual day of community service. Volunteers from all parts of the city, civic organizations and leading companies join together to create murals, paint, plant and landscape to revitalize schools, parks, and community centers.
  • MLK Jr. Day of Service is a powerful day of activism and reflection in January. Our volunteers mark this day with meaningful service, learning, and remembrance.

muralAdditional large-scale projects in which L.A. Works mobilizes the community in support and honor of significant events and/or individuals include: Cesar Chavez Day (March), Earth Day (April), and 911 Day (September).

MLK Day of Service 2010 Video

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver joined nearly 400 L.A. Works community and corporate volunteers in service to honor the spirit and legacy of Dr. King by transforming and revitalizing the grounds of Van Nuys Middle School. On January 18th, the pouring rain didn’t put a damper on the MLK Day celebration as volunteers painted and helped out in the library, and children marched for freedom.
