L.A. Works encourages young people to take part in service and be inspired by doing something meaningful with their time. While our volunteer opportunities are always suitable for volunteers who are 18 and older, many of our opportunities are also open to youth. The description page of each volunteer opportunity will state the age requirement. If the volunteer opportunity is age-appropriate for youth, then they will be able to sign up for the opportunity. Our opportunities are a great way to get school-required service hours completed and we can verify those hours.
VOLUNTEERS 14 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER
Minors age 14 and over should create a volunteer account. They will then be able to search and sign up for age-appropriate opportunities. Search for age-appropriate opportunities.
VOLUNTEERS UNDER 14 YEARS OF AGE
Minors under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at the volunteer opportunity. Because federal law prohibits children under the age of 14 from registering on our website, there are two options for scheduling minors under 14 to participate in a volunteer opportunity.
HOW TO SIGN UP A MINOR UNDER 14 YEARS OF AGE
As a parent or guardian, create a family volunteer team and include any youth under 14 years of age as team members. You can then sign your family team up for an age-appropriate volunteer opportunity. Search for age-appropriate opportunities.
All minors will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release For Minors Form in order to participate in a volunteer opportunity.
