| Let's Read (Pueblo del Rio) - Fall/Winter 09 |
Agency: Let's Read (Pueblo del Rio)
Description:
NOTE: This project will take place every Saturday morning from September 26th through November 21st – prospective volunteers must commit to the full course.
Help a child improve his or her reading, writing, and math skills. If your enthusiasm for kids is as great as your love of learning, we need you to join the Let's Read volunteer team.
Let's Read is a multi-week program designed to provide the youth of Pueblo del Rio with the tools to help them achieve their dreams. Pueblo Del Rio is a public housing development with over 700 residents. Working individually and as a group, volunteers work with youth on their school-related materials as well as expose them to important life-skills. If you enjoy working with youth and would like to serve as a mentor then this program is for you.
In order to participate, you must speak with one of the project leaders, Matt Carey or Steve Gee, before signing up. Matt can be reached at 323-993-5034, or at matthew.carey@turner.com. Steve can be reached at 818-259-2502, or at gee@footballmail.com.
