Agency: Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (Environmental Programs Division)

Description:

The County of Los Angeles will be conducting an upcoming “Brag about Your Bag®” reusable bag campaign. Our objective is to Keep LA County Beautiful by preventing litter and helping to conserve our natural resources. We are set to launch our campaign on November 15, 2009 (America Recycles Day) and runs through December 17, 2009 (A Day Without a Bag). The County along with campaign partners will distribute over 70,000 reusable bags and at the same time collect five single-use bags for recycling at the following partner supermarkets: Albertsons, Ralphs, Food 4 Less, HOWS, Top Valu and Valu Plus.

We will be hosting various reusable bag giveaway events at partnering supermarkets on the following days:

• November 15
• November 18
• November 19
• November 21
• November 23
• November 24
• November 25
• December 5
• December 12
• December 17

We would be excited to have enthusiastic volunteers staffing these events. Their volunteer duties would include: collecting plastic bags brought in by participants and distributing reusable bags, educational literature, and promotional items. Volunteers are needed from 9am-3pm while campaign events will run from 10am-2pm.
