Description:
Once every month L.A. Works volunteers work together with Wheels for Humanity staff to refurbish used wheelchairs for delivery to children and adults in developing countries. Volunteers help organize parts, refurbish wheelchairs, and assist with packing, labeling and loading completed wheelchairs for shipment. Wheels for Humanity receives donated wheelchairs on a daily basis from individuals, hospitals, and medical supply companies.
UCP Wheels for Humanity is a non-profit organization working to refurbish donated wheelchairs and hand-fit them for children and adults with disabilities in developing countries.
Special Note: Volunteers will be working in a warehouse - please wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing.
Volunteers should bring a sack lunch. Wheels for Humanity provides drinks and light snacks.
Age Requirement: Volunteers for this project must be 14 years of age.
Minors: Any volunteer under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors.
