Description:
Reading to Kids organizes monthly reading clubs at eight elementary schools in the downtown Los Angeles area. Program: The Reading to Kids program is a monthly reading club in which volunteers read in pairs to 5-7 kids per class while their parents work with the elementary school teachers to learn how to be good readers at home. Volunteer Role & Responsibilities: Volunteers are needed to serve as readers to small groups of students at elementary schools (typically between 4 and 6 children per group) in a fun environment. Teachers at the elementary school provide supervision and guidance throughout the morning. Requirements: Volunteers must be 18 years of age. Time Commitment: The reading clubs run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Locations: Reading programs happen at the following school locations: - Alta Loma Elementary School
