Volunteer Recruitment Services
Once you have registered to become a community partner, L.A. Works offers the following FREE volunteer recruitment services to support you in achieving your mission.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
Community Connections is a volunteer service focused on supporting the programming and events of our community partners, better enabling them to achieve their mission by posting requests for volunteers on our website. We can help recruit volunteers to become long-term fixtures in day-to-day ongoing programming or commit to just a few hours to support a special event. To get your volunteer projects and events featured on our website, please complete our online Community Connection Form. If you need to make changes or updates to your postings, please email them to info@laworks.com. Partners do not receive Log In credentials to update their own postings.
Fill out the Community Connections Form for as many opportunities that you have. Be as specific as you can in the information that you submit. Postings are activated onto our website once a week and they remain searchable for up to 6 months at a time. You'll receive an email when the expiration date is approaching asking you if you'd like to renew your posting.
We cannot guarantee the number of volunteers that you'll get through this service, but thousands of people do visit our website every day looking for a variety of ways to connect to their communities. Also, the earlier you submit your projects and events the better chance you'll have of driving volunteers your way. Our partners have had many successes using our services:
Where To Find Your Projects
- If it is a date-specific request it will appear on our Opportunity Calendar.
- If is an ongoing request it will be searchable on our Opportunities Search.
Your Role as a Community Partner
A volunteer will click on the "Express Interest" button on your volunteer opportunity page and an email will be sent to the designated staff person at your agency for that project with contact information on the interested individual. It’s up to your agency to follow up with the volunteer and get them coordinated and on board your service opportunity.
L.A. Works' Role
After submitting your request, we'll design the posting page for you and let the contact person you've designated know when it's ready to go live. We activate postings once a week. If you need to make changes or updates to your postings, please email info@laworks.com.

MANAGED PROJECTS
Managed Projects are volunteer-based projects that occur on a regular basis (at least once per month) at a community partner site. They are designed to support our partners in advancing their missions while also providing an engaging and meaningful experience for volunteers.
Managed Projects are run by an L.A. Works Project Leader, a volunteer who receives training to act as the liaison between L.A. Works, the community partner and the volunteers. They are responsible for communicating with volunteers, developing engaging project activities, and orienting and leading volunteers on-site during the project. Managed projects can provide your agency with a regular source of volunteers without your staff having to expend its limited resources.
If you're interested in starting a Managed Project, please contact the Director of Programs at becca@laworks.com.
Please Note: Managed Projects are developed based on the availability of staff time and resources as well as the broader programming focus of L.A. Works. On average, a managed project can take at least 3 months to develop.
DAYS OF SERVICE
L.A. Works coordinates single-day Day of Service projects throughout the year that involve from 50 to 1,000+ volunteers. These Day of Service projects take place at a nonprofit partner site such as a school, community center, park or transitional living facility. These projects are custom-designed to fit our nonprofit partner's needs and range from serving the homeless, painting murals, planting community gardens and reading to children to large-scale facility beautification and makeovers of libraries, schools and community centers. If you are interested in having a Day of Service project at your site, email Porsha Pearson.
