VOLUNTEER ROLES NEEDED:
We’re recruiting volunteers who can participate in one or more workshops during the series.
You may sign up for a single workshop or multiple workshops. It is up to you!
You will receive video training that you can complete on your own time in the week leading up to your workshop. You will have the support of staff to answer questions before the workshop and staff leading the workshop curriculum so that you only need to focus on imparting your personal experience to applicants who are eager to hear from you.
THE WHAT TO EXPECT AS AN ELEVATE VOLUNTEER:
After signing up, the Week of your Workshop, you will receive the following emails -
-
A Monday email with our 15-minute training and Zoom link.
-
A Tuesday email with the same training and Zoom link with additional workshop materials. You do not have to study these materials, but we make them available if you’d like to look them over.
-
An orientation and staff support session starts at 2 pm before each workshop. All volunteers are welcome to attend or wait and log in for the 2:45 pm time slot.
The Volunteer's role
at the Workshop:
Staff will lead the workshop, and volunteers will lead the breakout rooms with staff support. The staff presentation will introduce the topic and start the conversation, and from there, your breakout rooms are a continuation of that conversation.
About the Elevate Program
The program provides support to young adults in Los Angeles who have gone through foster care, experienced homelessness or have been impacted by the justice system, giving them skills they can use and immediately apply to their next job.
Each Elevate young adult receives training and employment placement leading up to L.A. Works' Workforce Development workshops. Then, volunteers like yourself will participate in L.A. Works' curriculum to give participants new career skills they can apply the next work day. In less than 2 hours, your time in these workshops help pay dividends in our community for generations to come!
Elevate Program Mission
It is our mission that these workshops help these young adults keep their employment and advance in the future. This is the support and guidance that so many young adults struggle to find, and each of your volunteer hours can make all the difference.
This project is part of L.A. Works' Workforce Development initiative, which strives to support underserved Angelenos who are seeking genuine help and guidance with career and job skills. We’re here to support young adults who have not yet found a way to access mentorship or support regarding their potential, career opportunities, and future. If you had someone help you with these questions or remember how you found the answers on your own, please consider passing that knowledge on to others!
