Each year tens of thousands of volunteers across the nation honor Dr. King’s legacy through acts of service. Join this movement to show Los Angeles your true corporate values, supporting the community where your employees live, work, and play.

On Monday, January 20, 2020 L.A. Works organized more than a thousand Angelenos to commemorate the national MLK Day of Service holiday by honoring Dr. King’s great dream of “a nation that has a place at the table for children of every race.”

The event kicked off with a sit-down breakfast conversation, A Seat at the Table, co-hosted by Los Angeles magazine. Moderated by Val Zavala of KCET, speakers Laker legend A.C. Green, actress Logan Browning, UCLA Professor Kimberlé Crenshaw, and Los Angeles magazine Editor Maer Roshan shared their journey of breaking down barriers on their path to success.  After breakfast, more than 1,000 volunteers transformed nearly every wall and locker on the campus with painting projects, using more than 100 gallons of paint, as well as beautified the blacktop and grounds with landscaping, fence weave, and the construction of 30 new benches.
