WHAT: Harvest food, fight hunger, build community! Join Food Forward and the Social Justice Learning Institute for the Food for Thought Produce Pick Up. We're looking for volunteers to join us in sorting, bagging and produce at this pop-up distribution.
WHEN: Friday, September 14th
WHERE: Inglewood, CA
WHY: Food Forward is a volunteer-powered, grassroots group of Southern Californians who are passionate about reconnecting to our food system, promoting issues of food justice, and making change around hunger in our community. We convene at private properties, public spaces, and farmers and wholesale markets to recover excess fruits and vegetables, donating 100% to local direct-service agencies who feed our community's most vulnerable. Combined, our diverse distribution partners provide food to over 100,000 clients a month across Southern California.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Volunteers should be comfortable standing for long periods of time, carrying boxes up to 25 pounds, and sorting out good produce from compostable produce.
REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers must be 18 years old or older to participate.
