Quick Overview: We will be working on a recently planted native garden by the ocean. Volunteer will be applying mulch to reduce weed growth and retain moisture in the soil.
Mission or Broader Program Description: .Please join us Sunday June 9th from 9am-12pm for a Beautiful Lunada Bay mulching project! The long-term goals of this project are to restore attractive, locally native, drought tolerant plants to open space areas in Lunada Bay. Help restore this site for wildlife and the community to enjoy!
Impact: We have many rare wildlife species on the Peninsula that require conservation. This native garden helps to promote wildlife cooridors and provides habitat for federally endangered species such as the El Segundo blue butterfly.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: Volunteer tasks will vary and include planting, trail work, mulching, weed removal, and watering.
Requirements: The Beautify Luanda Bay Volunteer Day event will be open to all ages and skill levels. Close-toed shoes are required and bring water and sun protection is recommended.
*Any volunteer under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors. The form can be found on L.A. Works website Q&A section.
