[INACTIVE] LEND A HAND: Wheels for Deals with Seniors
Overview: Alexandria Care Center is a skilled nursing facility that provides both short-term rehabilitation to get elderly clients healthy and back home and long-term care for those requiring 24-hour assistance.
Mission: Take seniors on an excursion to a neighborhood 99 cent store.
Volunteer Project: The elderly clients at Alexandria Care Center don't always have the chance to get out of their rooms very much. To boost their spirits and get some fresh air, they're offered a weekend excursion to the neighborhood 99 Cent Store! Shopping for great deals is one of their monthly highlights! Come provide a much needed shopping trip along with great companionship, lively talk and needed sunshine.
Special Note: Volunteers are asked to help transport seniors to the 99 Cent store by pushing them in wheelchairs approximately 8 blocks round trip. If you feel that you may not physically be able to do this, please email the Project Leader below before signing up to see if alternative arrangements can be made.
Bilingual (Spanish, Armenian, Korean, or Tagalog & English) skills are helpful.
Age Requirement: Volunteers for this project must be at least 13 years of age.
Minors: Any volunteer under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors. Volunteers under 16 years of age will also need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Accessibility: L.A. Works firmly believes that we strengthen the social fabric of our community by involving all in service. If you feel you need accommodations to participate in this project please email us at email@example.com.
