Program Description: The SCS Noonan Scholars Career Coach Program connects college Scholars with weekly career coaching from experienced professionals. A Career Coach offers support with career exploration, preparation, and planning during a 2-month commitment for 2 hours a week. Through this partnership, Scholars gain the skills and confidence to achieve their career goals.

Coaches provide one-on-one career support to college students in:

  • Developing a competitive resume/cover letter
  • Identifying and applying for internships, fellowships, and full-time positions
  • Identifying and preparing to apply to graduate school
  • Interview preparation
  • Informational interviews and career exploration
  • Networking techniques

Requirements:  After completing the online application, volunteers must complete an orientation/interview and online training. We are seeking individuals with excellent writing skills, who have experience job searching (preparing one's own resume/cover letter, interviewing, etc), and who are enthusiastic about sharing their personal experience. Bachelor's Degree required.

Time Commitment: 2 hours a week for 2 months. This opportunity can be completed remotely.

Benefits: Career Coaches lay the foundation for new career prospects for low-income, first-generation college students of color. Your support and expertise can help more SCS Noonan Scholars transition into successful careers.

SCS Noonan Scholars Mission: At SCS Noonan Scholars, our mission is to help high-achieving underrepresented students graduate from top colleges equipped to achieve their full potential in their chosen career. SCS Noonan Scholars is committed to bridging the college achievement gap for first-generation college students through a unique seven-step replicable model proven to establish a foundation for lifelong success. Many high-achieving high school students from low-income families lack the necessary resources to define and support their educational and professional goals. Our core belief is that a college education is the only reliable and predictable way for underserved youth to achieve their full potential.
