Come unplug and get your hands dirty at the Garden School Foundation's last Community Garden Day of the school year. Join us on Saturday, May 19th from 9am to 1pm and help us get the garden ready for summer and say goodbye to another inspiring school year! Together we'll spend the morning tending the veggie beds and finishing up this year's projects. We'll also share a healthy lunch together in the garden prepared for us by our team of lil chefs! No gardening experience necessary - just a love of nature and a willingness to get outside and help our gardens grow!
Volunteers are a crucial part of what we do at the Garden School Foundation, and we have a wide variety of roles available for every skillset. You’ll have the opportunity to learn biodynamic farming practices from the pros, teach a child about the wonders of kale and sorrel, and work alongside our wonderful family of staff, interns and volunteers. The possibilities are endless, and we’re excited for you to get started!
ABOUT GARDEN SCHOOL: The Garden School Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to providing a wide scope of education through hands-on learning in real, outdoor, living classrooms. Turning asphalt into ecosystems, we teach hands-on classes and cooking lessons in the garden classroom and provide educators the tools they need to make school gardens and our children thrive.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: With your new garden friends, you'll weed, mulch, harvest, compost, and work to complete larger garden projects such as building and planting veggie beds, revitalizing the California Native garden, painting signs, whitewashing our fruit trees, and so much more!
Requirements: No gardening experience needed. We are a school garden, and everyone is ALWAYS learning, sharing, and growing together! GSF provides all necessary training, tools, and gloves. We also provide light refreshments, sunscreen, water, and plenty of feel good vibes!!
