Quick Overview:  A Family Visitation Center is a place where parents and children who have been separated due to abuse and/or neglect can have supervised visits in a setting that is conductive to parent/child interaction.  Coaches provide an environment of safety while role modeling and motivating parents to do their best.

Mission or Broader Program Description: The mission of Friends of the Family is to foster strong families, resilient and joyful children, and vibrant communities by providing respectful, responsive family support programs in the greater Los Angeles area.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities:  As a volunteer coach, you will offer support, guidance, positive reinforcement, “cheerleading”, modeling of positive ineraction and behavior, suggestions for developmentally appropriate play and bonding activities, identificaion of additional need sof the parents and, to offer respect for the parent's role.  

Requirements: Volunteers must beat least 21 years of age, willing to be fingerprinted and screened, and must complete a 24-hour-no-cost training provided by Friends of the Family which includes all materials and ongoing supervision and support. Time commitment: Be available for 2 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.
