Quick Overview: Help to ensure a friendly nurturing environment for children as they are transferred back and forth between custodial and non-custodial parents who have not yet established a good working parental relationship.

Mission or Broader Program Description: The mission of Friends of the Family is to foster strong families, resilient and joyful children, and vibrant communities by providing respectful, responsive family support programs in the greater Los Angeles area.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: To ensure a safe environment for children as they move from the custody of one parent to the other without a threat of conflict or violence. Help the children to avoid experiencing bitter stressful interchanges between their parents as they share custody.
Requirements: Volunteers must be over 21 years old and must complete an 8-hour training and certification provided at no cost to the volunteer. Training will be provided by Friends of the Family and will include all materials and ongoing supervision and support. Most exchanges take place in the evenings or on weekends at the West Valley Police station and Mission Hills police station. This volunteer commitment is for three hours per week for 6-12 months.
