Mission or Broader Program Description:
The Mayor Tom Bradley 100th Anniversary is a celebration of life and legacy. The event brings awareness to the legend and his accomplishments and also sets up a scholarship for three students to attend UCLA, one in Athletics, Arts and Culture and lastly leadership in the area of political science. The vision is to continue to support students of all colors with an education leading to greatness in sports, academics and leadership in the city of Los Angeles. A presentation will be given every year to keep the spirit of leadership and embracing diversity for all.
Impact: Your volunteer participation and efforts make it possible for the one and only black mayor’s legacy will live on through the students and continue to grow from generation to generation.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: As a volunteer, for this event volunteers will assist with pre-production planning and logistics which include table reservations and space reservation in the Souvenir book, working with sponsors to fufill activation requirements, and other associated duties. Day of responsibilites include- Set-up & Breakdown, Silent and Live Auction Help, Greeting and Directing Guests, Gift (swag) tent support, Media Tent Support, Other Miscellaneous Tasks as a member of the Mayor Bradley Vision Team. There will be weekly meetups and conference calls.
Requirements: We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers from all facets, as well as those who possess specialized skills i.e. sales, marketing and hospitality. We are also seeking great personalities for meet and greets on the red carpet, at the media tent, working with celebrities and guests. Experience in events and hospitality are a plus. Must be 18 years or older. Must come to all volunteer meetings to learn procedures. There will be an interview and background check. Time commitment will be determined based upon volunteer duties and activities. Ability to make a commitment for this project is a must. When working no cellphones are allowed, no guests are allowed, adherence to dress code safety and security protocols are a must.
Optional items to consider
This is a high profile event and everyone must be personable and conservative in their dealing with the public. No visible tattoos or piercings. Appearance must be neat. Hair must be kempt and promptness is a must. Food and beverages will be provided for all volunteers.
Accessibility:The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum can accommodate volunteers in wheelchairs or with restricted mobility. There are multiple areas at yard level that do not require ramps or lifts to access.
