Overview of Day: L.A. Works Day is a powerful day of action and advocacy. This year, L.A. Works Day 2018 takes place on Saturday, August 11th in Clover Park. At our second annual Pop-Up service event, hundreds of community and corporate volunteers will join together to learn about and address the critical issues affecting homeless families and youth. Volunteers will leave this festive event inspired by what they have created for their homeless neighbors and empowered with the tools to speak with elected officials and attend their neighborhood council meetings to voice approval for housing.
Emerging Young Leaders Opportunity: At this year's event, youth leader and Khloe Kares founder, Khloe Thompson, will lead a group of young, inspired children through a series of volunteer projects throughout the day. Khloe Kares is a non-profit organization started by Khloe Thompson, when she was only 8 years old. Even at such a young age, Khloe was able to noticed huge problem with the homeless in her community and decided that she wanted to help. So, Khloe felt that the best way to help the homeless in her community was to hand sow and distribute tote bags, called "Kare Bags." These bags are filled with over 25 bare necessity items. Since starting her charity, Khloe has been able to distribute our 1,500 bags. Khloe's work is also setting an example to children across the country. Her motto is that you are never too young to make a difference!
