Description: Training Opportunities for volunteers in the operations of a non-profit Urban Forestry organization.
Impact: Communities in need of urban greening. Youth and career choice experience.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: Tasks of volunteers may include landscape planting, helping in nursery management, GIS (Geographical Informational Systems), mapping, land analysis: hydrology, energy, plant biology and native/drought tolerant plants, and community outreach.
Requirements: Young Adult training (16-24), any age volunteers can request opportunities. Weekday or Saturday opportunities. Field sites may include hills and steep slopes. Use of tools will require safety personal protective equipment (ppe).
* Any volunteer under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors. The form can be found on L.A. Works website Q&A section.
Accessibility: Field work may be on steep slopes.
