Location: Pacoima CA, 91331

Date: 7/21/2019 Spots Remaining: 4

Description

WHAT: Engage in fun activities with children staying at LAFH's Pacoima transitional shelter and give their guardians a much needed break!

ABOUT LAFH: LA Family Housing is a non-profit that provides shelters for homeless families and singles across Los Angeles County. Their main focus is to get families stabilized through counseling, job placement, and life skill classes. https://lafh.org/

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES: One Sunday a month, volunteers play with kids aged 8-13 whose families are currently living in one of LAFH's temporary shelters. Volunteers and kids might play soccer, make a craft, have a yahtzee tournament, paint faces - you name it!

IMPACT: Volunteers 1) give parents and guardians much needed rest and 2) give the kids valuable individual attention, which has been proven to boost their self esteem and decrease their stress.

REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers aged 14-18 must be accompanied by an adult and have legal guardian complete this minor waiver ahead of time. One adult per minor, please.

ACCESSIBILITY: L.A. Works firmly believes that we strengthen the social fabric of our community by involving all in service. If you feel you need accommodations to participate in this project please email us at info@laworks.com.
