Quick Overview: You'll have the opportunity to gain experience in a unique environment that is part theater performance and part outdoor festival event.
Mission or Broader Program Description: We are a private non-profit in charge of a summer long free Shakespeare festival in Griffith Park. We provide a show with professional actors every Wednesday through Sunday, free of charge, for our local LA Community.
Impact: We bring Los Angeles together through exuberant, surprising productions of classical plays as well as new works. We address the inequity of access to the performing arts through free and low-cost programming. We create theater that is dynamic, inclusive and accessible; enriching our community and reaching new theater audiences. Your efforts help make this event possible for all members of the LA community.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: Our volunteers help with everything from set-up & tear down procedures, selling merchandise, helping run our concessions area, greeting guests & passing out programs, and sometimes helping out backstage during the run of the show.
Requirements: In the past, we've had volunteers that came once a week throughout the summer, volunteers who came between 3-4 days per week, and volunteers who were only able to come several times throughout the summer. We are, of course, very understanding about various work schedules and such so we also have volunteers who come for the first half of a volunteer shift or the second half. We just ask that you let us know if that's the case!
