Overview: The Congress of Neighborhoods is the annual assembly for elected officials from all communities throughout the City of Los Angeles. From East LA to the Pacific Palisades, and everyone in between, more than 1,300 representatives will be in attendance. Though, our communities are diverse, we all have one goal: to empower the citizens of Los Angeles!
Mission: LA’s Neighborhood Councils are grassroots-level advisory bodies that exist to connect Angelenos to City Hall. The system was established in 1999 by the City Charter, in order to improve government responsiveness to local concerns. Currently, there are approximately 1800 elected Board Members serving on 99 Neighborhood Councils that each represents an average of 40,000 people.
The Los Angeles Congress of Neighborhoods brings together leaders from the city’s 100 Neighborhood Councils for a day of networking and education. Held yearly at LA City Hall, the event aims to help Neighborhood Council leaders obtain the tools and establish the relationships they need to build a successful future for their communities.
As we continue to grow as a gathering of motivated representatives, so does our need for motivated citizens to help us make the assembly operate smoothly. Your assistance not only impacts the event itself, make ensures that Los Angeles will be stronger following the completion of the event. Your altruism is needed as it is the interest of all Angelenos that the Neighborhood Council system exists.
