Quick Overview: Work on resumes, conduct mock interviews and prepare budgets with women in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction to prepare them to rejoin the workforce and help them rebuild their lives.
Mission or Broader Program Description: CLARE Foundation is a nonprofit organization and trusted community resource, providing effective and affordable alcoholism, substance abuse and behavioral health treatment and prevention services for nearly 50 years. Experienced, compassionate and specially trained staff help women and men find an end to the pain and suffering that is at the heart of addiction and discover hope in recovery.
This project is part of RSVP at L.A. Works' Adult Education and Employment initiative. We are organizing a series of volunteer-led workshops with various nonprofit partners like CLARE to prepare people for new or better jobs. Topics include interview skills, resume and cover letter writing, financial literacy and more.
Impact: Your choice to volunteer at the CLARE Foundation is a choice to support people in difficult circumstances who sincerely want to make better lives for themselves and rejoin society as productive citizens. Any experience you have as an interviewer or applicant is invaluable to folks who don't. If you've ever had a job, you can help someone else find one!
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: As a volunteer, you will assist the workshop leader in delivering curriculum.
Requirements: Participants must be age 55 or older to participate in RSVP events such as this. ANY employment experience is enough to make your presence valuable.
