Mission or Broader Program Description: Our mission is to achieve an improved understanding of the wildlife present in the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve to improve our conservation of species native to the area.

Impact: Tracking wildlife is such a specialized skill and this provides a unique opportunity to work with an expert to learn how to identify animals from evidence left on the trails. This data collected contributes to decades of work to achieve our monitoring goals. 

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: 

Volunteers will conduct weekly surveys (weather permitting) November through March
- 3 days of training are required and will be conducted on: Saturday October 5th, 12th and 19th
- A five-month commitment is required for an assigned preserve area
Tasks will include:
* walk a selected section of trail in the preserve
* note and submit observations: scat and paw prints

* Minimum age 16
* Volunteers under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors. The form can be found on L.A. Works website Q&A section.
