Quick Overview: Seniors (“Sages”) needed to participate in group workshop of 8, weekly, facilitated conversations with an interested teen (“Seeker”) which culminates in a written tribute to the Sage.
Organization Name and Website: Sages & Seekers https://www.sagesandseekers.org/
Mission or Broader Program Description: Sages & Seekers Members of two marginalized groups, seniors (“Sages”) and teens (“Seekers”) come together to diminish intergenerational ageism, develop empathy, combat social isolation and feelings of loneliness and foster respectful and transformative connections.
For over 10 years, the Sages & Seekers Program has been engaging participants across the country in a thoughtful examinations of how life is lived and how personal challenges are overcome - powerful work as young adults begin to build their own sense of identity and personal independence, and older adults review their experiences and accomplishments, taking stock in their contributions to family and community.
The session culminates in a sharing day when we pay tribute to Sages, empower Seekers, and meet the compelling need of both groups to find and share meaning in their lives through reflection and discussion.
Impact: Without enough Sages to match with Seekers who are eager to participate in the workshop we cannot deliver this transformative experience. Please share this opportunity with other potential participants and join this initiative to bring positive societal change to your community through a personally gratifying experience.
