Early Childhood Education (ECE) Classroom Volunteer

Location: ,

Date: 10/1/2019 Spots Remaining: 2000

Description

Quick Overview:  Volunteers get to work in the classroom under direct supervision of our teachers and staff to help our ECE students learn and grow.

Mission or Broader Program Description: Children’s Institute Inc. (CII) is a mental health and social services nonprofit which provides under-resourced youth and their families with free access to early childhood education, mental health, and family strengthening services. Our mission is to provide folks in Los Angeles’s most vulnerable communities with trauma-informed care and support so that they can live healthier, safer, and happier lives.

Impact: Volunteers support our programs by creating relationships with our students, many of whom have experienced trauma, and providing them with healthy and stable adult role models and care-takers.

Requirements: Must be 18 years or older. Must complete a background check after attending our Volunteer Orientation.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: This is an ongoing opportunity which requires at minimum, a 6 month commitment. The number of hours that volunteers will spend volunteering will depend on their availability and placement. We expect that you will be able to commit to volunteering at least once a week. Our ECE sites are located in numerous neighborhoods in Los Angeles (Echo Park, Koreatown, South LA, North Long Beach, Wilmington, Compton and Torrance).
