Info Session- Mentor a Family Transitioning Out of Homelessness

Location: Los Angeles CA, 90057

Date: 12/4/2019 Spots Remaining: 22

Join us for an information session to learn about becoming a mentor in the Imagine LA program. Information sessions take place at our offices near MacArthur Park, but are also available by conference call. Please RSVP and email livey@imaginela.org if you need conference call accomodations.

Quick Overview: Imagine LA harnesses the power of volunteer mentorship teams and existing community resources to empower families to transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency.

Description: The Imagine LA Family Mentorship Program matches a family exiting homelessness with your team of dedicated volunteers for 12-18 months. Imagine LA families have experienced homelessness, have been in a shelter or temporary housing and are in the process of moving into their own housing. Their case workers from the shelters have referred them to Imagine LA as vulnerable to repeat homelessness and open to our mentorship model.

Roles and Responsibilities: The team and family walk together on a journey out of chronic poverty to a place of permanent housing, self-sufficiency, confidence and wellness where every member of the family is thriving. Imagine LA Mentors are part of a team of 3-5 people. You can mentor a child, adult or be a financial wellness mentor. Most of them do not require any prior skills, just lots of enthusiasm, kindness, an open mind, consistency and a can-do attitude.

Time Commitment: The mentorship commitment is about 4 hours per month.

Requirements: Mentors must attend a Mentorship Training, complete a LiveScan background check, and submit our Mentor Application and Volunteer Agreement. Mentors must be willing to commit a minimum of 1 year to the program. Mentors must be at least 21 years old.

Accessibility: There is an elevator to our second floor offices.
