The mission of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy (PVPLC) is to "Preserve land and restore habitat for the education and enjoyment of all."

Overview: This is our new phase of habitat restoration! Volunteers will assist in planting native plants and removing invasive species.

Organization: Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, www.pvplc.org

Program Description:

Join us for our Outdoor Volunteer Day at Abalone Cove Reserve! You will help with enhancing habitat by planting native shrubs, removing invasive weeds, watering native plants and more! Your efforts will help restore this habitat for wildlife as well as create a beautiful place for the community to enjoy!

This event will meet at the entrance of Abalone Cove Reserve: 5970 Palos Verdes Dr South. Please arrive at 9am sharp and enter through the park parking lot; your parking will be validated. We will be working outdoors, so please wear closed-toed shoes, sun protection and be sure to bring drinking water and a snack. Thank you for volunteering!

Impact: You will be among the first volunteers to plant habitat at Abalone Cove to benefit wildlife species such as the threatened California gantcatcher, species of special concern, cactus wren, and the federally endangered El Segundo blue butterfly.

Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities: Typical volunteer roles include planting native plants, removing invasive species, raking in seeds, and limiting erosion.

Requirements: We will be working outdoors, so wear closed-toed shoes, sun protection and be sure to bring drinking water.

Benefits: Your efforts will help us restore the habitat for wildlife in Rancho Palos Verdes, as well as create a beautiful place for the community to enjoy!
