Volunteer with Seniors at an Assisted Living
Quick Overview: Spend quality time with Seniors at an Assisted Living Facility. Read a book, play an instrument, play games, or simply talk to residents.
Mission or Broader Program Description: Giving back to the community is always a fullfiing sensation. Having hands on experience with senior residents can go a long way not only professionally but also in your personal life. Our company holds ten RCFE's throughout Southern California and we focus on memory care. Doing activites with residents, helps them with their cognitive mind and at the same time helps their physical body. We need volunteers who are willing to help us make our residents feel better.
Impact: Volunteering with Seniors can prevent isolation an reduce symptoms of depression. To spend time with our residents, you receive the opportunity to improve intergenerational relationships. By being with our residents, you allow for our seniors to be active for a longer time. Finally, by volunteering it promotes mental health and you can prevent dementia progress.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: The only responsibility the volunteer has is to make sure our residents are having a great time and by just spending time with them, you are accomplishing just that!
Requirements: No requirements needed, just the willingness to be with senior residents.
* Volunteers under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors. The form can be found on L.A. Works website Q&A section.
