Project Leaders: MLK Jr. Day of Service 2020

Location: Los Angeles CA, 90065

Date: 1/20/2020 Spots Remaining: 51

Description

What:  Don't just show up on MLK Day, step up! Become a Project Leader for L.A. Works' MLK Day of Service and lead 1000+ volunteers in beautification projects at an Inglewood middle school.

What is MLK Day:  On Monday January 20, 2020, 1000+ Angelenos will comemorate the Martin Luther King Day of Service holiday. The event kicks off with a breakfast conversation:  A SEAT AT THE TABLE, co-hosted by LA Magazine and featuring trailblazing community leaders. After, volunteers will work together to beautify the school.

What are the Responsibilities of a Project Leader: Project Leaders head teams of 5-20 volunteers and teach them how to complete their project, ensure their safety, and make sure they have a fun, meaningful day.  Possible beautification projects you may lead include:
-  Mural painting
-  Bench building
-  Seed planting
-  Re-painting

Requirements:

  • Must attend a training either Thursday 1/16 evening or Saturday 1/18 morning
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
Teams/Groups: Project Leaders are the leaders for all our volunteers, not just the group they may be coming with. Since Project Leaders are individually assigned to different tasks, we can't accommodate requests for PLs to work together or to be assigned to specific teams. Thank you so much for your understanding!
If your group members are all interested in leadership roles, please feel free to sign up as Project Leaders!

Accessibility: L.A. Works firmly believes that we strengthen the social fabric of our community by involving all in service. If you feel you need accommodations to participate in this project, please email us at info@laworks.com.
