In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., this year we'll be serving at Orville Wright Middle School Steam Magnet. Volunteers will enjoy a breakfast program with special guest speakers, a bucket raffle, and a volunteer fair. After breakfast, teams of volunteers will paint, plant, and beautify the campus.
Impact: Studies have shown that student achievement can be affected either positively or negatively by the school environment. School beautification is a great way to increase morale and motivate students. Beautiful and clean facilities push students in the right direction by giving them an uplifting, positive space to work and grow in. They will come into school knowing that they're worth something because someone took the time to take care of a place they call home for eight or more hours of the day.
Volunteer Project: Understanding that you are never too young to make a difference, L.A. Works encourages families to volunteer together. Our family and children volunteers will participate in a fun, kid-friendly tabletop arts project to help beautify the school campus.
Date: January 20th, 2020
Location: Orville Wright Middle School Steam Magnet - directions will be emailed to you after you sign up. Space is limited so registration is required.
Time: Please arrive at 8:30 am to check-in.
Waivers & Minors: All volunteers will need to fill out the LAUSD Waiver and the L.A. Works Waiver at the time of registration. Any volunteer under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian an L.A. Works Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors. Volunteers under the age of 14 must have a parent/guardian with them. Volunteers under the age of 14 cannot create L.A. Works Accounts so parents/guardians must create a Team to sign up their family.

Accessibility: L.A. Works firmly believes that we strengthen the social fabric of our community by involving all in service. If you feel you need accommodations to participate in this project, please email us at email@example.com.
