In response to recent developments regarding the spread of COVID-19, also referred to as coronavirus, St. Francis Center is modifying program operations effective immediately.

We are still accepting volunteers and still remain committed to serving our guests in need and to continue to be a center of support and hope. Our priority is to take proactive steps to protect the health and safety of our guests, volunteers, staff, and supporters. You can read more about our modified programs here.

Mission: Since 1972, St. Francis Center has provided relief and support to homeless and extremely low-income individuals and families in Los Angeles. Much more than a soup kitchen or a food pantry, we offer a unique range of services to sustain and empower those in need. Welcoming all with joy, dignity and compassion, we dedicate ourselves every day to Serving Hope in our community.

Event Description: Our Breakfast program is part of our Homeless Well-Being Program. Our homeless and near-homeless brothers and sisters are welcome to join us for breakfast Monday through Friday at 7:30 am. We serve between 200 and 300 men and women each day. Help serve a hot breakfast meal in the morning before school or work to our guests experiencing homelessness.

Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities: Volunteers will help staff with set-up for serve, and clean-up after breakfast. Breakfast service tasks include serving coffee, working in the kitchen, cleaning tables, resetting tables, and offering a smile. 

Requirements: Wear closed toe shoes and comfortable clothing. 

Time Commitment: Volunteers are needed from 7:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.

Age Restrictions: We are happy to host volunteers ages 8+ (parent/guardian supervision required for volunteers ages 8-13). * Volunteers under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors. The form can be found on L.A. Works website Q&A section.

Benefits: Have the oppportunity to serve the community, learn about homelessness in Los Angeles, and build realtionship with our homeless guests, staff and other volunteers.


*Court-mandated service will NOT be verified unless the hours have been approved by the volunteer coordinator and management. Please email to confirm court-mandated volunteer hours.*
