⚙ Advocate for Racial Justice
WHO: L.A. Works and racial justice experts have come together to provide a virtual volunteer opportunity that arms you with the knowledge and tools to actively address racial issues facing our society today, both locally and globally.
WHY: This moment in history is critical for racial justice advocates. This opportunity will teach you how to work towards a more racially equitable world.
The VOLUNTEER PROJECT: In this 6 week series, each session consists of education and action.
Session One (9/13): History of Black Voting in LA and how to register to vote
Session Two (9/20): Re-Imagine LA and how to affect your local government
Session Three (9/27): Affirmative Action/Prop 16 and how to write an op-ed
Session Four (10/4): Racism & Education/Prop 15 and how to write to your electeds
Session Five (10/11): Medical Racism and how to identify and email your electeds
Session Six (10/18): Policing/Criminal Justice and how to makes calls to the police department
