EMPOWER YOUNG ADULTS: Help Youth Enhance Their Life Skills REMOTELY

Quick Overview: Support young adults in their professional development and help them enhance their career skills as they are getting ready to enter adulthood and prepare them to become independent.

Mission or Broader Program Description: MOSTe is a nonprofit organization  empowers girls from underserved areas of Los Angeles County to become the next generation of college-educated women.

This project is part of RSVP at L.A. Works' Adult Education and Employment initiative. We are organizing a series of volunteer-led workshops with various nonprofit partners like MOSTe to prepare young adults for new jobs and college opportunities that will lead to a fulfilling career. Topics include interview skills, resume and cover letter writing, financial literacy and more.

Impact: Your choice to volunteer with MOSTe is a choice to support youth in a low-income community who want to make better lives for themselves and be productive students and citizens in their community. Any experience you have as an interviewer or applicant is invaluable to the youth. If you've ever had a job, you can help someone else find one and make their way through college!

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: As a volunteer, you will contribute to the whole group conversation, as a Project Leader facilitates the topic. You may need to provide timely feedback online (depending on the topic) and work in small groups with youth through online video conference.

* Women of Color & career professionals and college graduates highly encouraged to sign up

Requirements: Volunteers must:

-Be age 55 or older to participate in RSVP events such as this

-Have their own Zoom account (free)

-Have technology capabilities such as: internet, video camera on computer, computer access

-Fill out agreement before workshop
