Public Art Ambassador - West Adams: Westside Neighborhood Park

Location: Los Angeles CA, 90016

Date: 7/24/2016 Spots Remaining: 1

Description

Formed in 1925, Department of Cultural Affairs promotes arts and culture as a way to ignite a powerful dialogue, engage LA’s residents and visitors, and ensure LA’s varied cultures are recognized, acknowledged, and experienced.

Event Description: CURRENT:LA Water is looking for passionate art enthusiasts to assist in Los Angeles’ first citywide Public Art Biennial taking place in summer, 2016. Get an insider's look at the exhibitions while educating others about the artists and their mission to create awareness about societal struggles we see in our city.

Brew and ferment your own healthy kombucha with CURRENT artist Candice Lin and learn about the power of bacteria to shape the world. Limited SCOBYs (cultures) will be distributed for free.

Guests are also invited to meet Dr. Olivia Osborne, an interdisciplinary scientist and artist, and learn about how the silver nanoparticles from our consumer products end up in rivers, streams, and the ocean, to the detriment of our aquatic ecosystems. Participate in a water conservation workshop, create a collective sculpture from glass jars and local water, and collaborate to perform creative tasks to share on waterbodies.org.

CANDICE LIN - "A Hard White Body" (b. 1979, Concord, MA; lives and works in LA) received an MFA in New Genres at the San Francisco Art Institute and a double BA in Visual Arts and Art Semiotics at Brown University.
