About L.A. Works RSVP: Funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) as a part of the larger Senior Corps initiative, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) engages older Americans in volunteer service to meet critical community needs. L.A. Works RSVP seeks to mobilize persons 55 and older willing to share their experience, abilities, and skills for the betterment of the Los Angeles community and themselves.

Position Overview: The Pro-Bono Coordinator provides day-to-day management and oversight of L.A. Works expert and skills-based volunteer program. This program leverages the experience and expertise of volunteers, who are primarily RSVP members, to offer capacity building support to L.A. Works; nonprofit partners. As one of RSVP newer projects, there is opportunity for an entrepreneurially-minded individual to shape and grow the project, with the guidance of the Dir. of RSVP and working closely with the RSVP team to best implement the CNCS approved plan.

Summary of duties:

  • Identify and scope pro-bono volunteer opportunities appropriate for RSVP members and corporate volunteers, maintaining a database of 15 (approx.. 6 weeks to 3 month) open opportunities at any given point;

  • Recruit and track volunteer service for at least 60 RSVP pro-bono volunteers and 40 corporate volunteers each year;

  • Oversee incoming nonprofit requests for posting volunteer opportunities, identifying those that might best be suited for Pro Bono;

  • Work with nonprofits and volunteers to identify and design appropriate pro-bono and skill-based projects;

  • Utilize L.A. Works website and relevant volunteer promotional websites to list volunteer opportunities;

  • Identify and ensure expectations between nonprofits and volunteers are met by maintaining ongoing contact;

  • Conduct and analyze pre- post surveys with nonprofits to identify and track impact of volunteer participation;

  • Design and implement business plan for future pro bono programming;

  • Participate in L.A. Works large-scale signature Days of Service.

Additional requirements:

  • Demonstrated Mac computer and program skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce (or equivalent) database management, presentations, mail merge, and digital/social media;

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds;

  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for regular travel throughout Los Angeles County; and

  • Able to work some evenings and weekends.

Reporting: This position reports to the Director of RSVP.  

Salary: $40-$44,000, with potential to grow with program expansion.
