What: Give manicures, play bingo, karaoke, and other games with seniors.
Hallmark Cheviot Hills Assisted Living is a supportive community atmosphere of 77 retirees and seniors, which offers well-being services and social activities for its residents.
Volunteer Project: L.A. Works volunteers provide companionship and support to the seniors of Hallmark Cheviot Hills Assisted Living. Volunteers visit with seniors in the facility, working together on art & craft activities, playing games (Bingo!), singing Karaoke and sharing really great stories. Volunteers also help out doing manicures for some of the residents. The seniors of Hallmark Cheviot Hills really appreciate the regular monthly visits from L.A. Works volunteers. Come join us for two hours of fun with the residents! These activities put a big smile on everyone's faces.
Age Requirement: Volunteers for this project must be at least 8 years of age.
Minors: Any volunteer under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors. Volunteers under 13 years of age will also need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Federal Law prohibits volunteers under the age of 13 from registering on-line. To sign up a family member under the age of 13, sign yourself up and then email the project leader directly to let her/him know. Or, form a family volunteer team, include your children as team members, and then sign your team up for the project.

About Alexandria Care Center: Alexandria Care Center is a skilled nursing facility that provides both short-term rehabilitation to get elderly clients healthy and back home and long-term care for those requiring 24-hour assistance.
The volunteer opportunity you'd lead: The elderly clients at Alexandria Care Center don't always have the chance to get out of their rooms very much. To boost their spirits and get some fresh air, "LEND A HAND: Wheels for Deals with Seniors" offers them a weekend excursion to the neighborhood 99 Cent Store! Shopping for great deals is one of their monthly highlights!

Quick Overview: Volunteer drivers utilize their personal vehicles to provide rides for older adults. Volunteers are able to provide safe and reliable transportation ensuring that these riders remain active, healthy, and connected to their community.
Mission or Broader Program Description: AgingNext is a senior services non-profit based out of Claremont, CA. Our mission is to support and educate older adults and their families to maintain independence and age well at home and in the community. Our Ride and Go Volunteer Driver Program program allows registered riders to connect with a volunteer driver. Whether to the doctor, the grocery store, or lunch with friends, our volunteer drivers provide safe and reliable transportation to older adults and the disabled. Mileage Reimbursement and secondary auto insurance provided. Volunteers have the freedom to choose rides that work around their schedule. Riders will be picked up from Walnut, West Covina, Covina, Glendora, Azusa, Diamond Bar, La Verne, San Dimas, La Verne and Claremont.
Impact: Many older adults face barriers that involve transportation. This program helps ensure that older adults will never miss doctors appointments, avoid social isolation, and remain active in their community.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities:
Volunteer will be a careful and responsible driver.
Volunteer will accept rides that work best for you through the Ride Scheduler system.
Volunteer will go to the rider’s door and assist them to the vehicle and assist them to their door upon returning home.
Volunteer will call Volunteer Cordinator immediately if unable to keep an assigned request.
Volunteer will report any problems stemming from a transportation assignment immediately.
Volunteer will maintain a clean, upkept vehicle and observe “rules of the road”.
While use is not permitted while on duty, a cell phone should be carried by all drivers at all times in case of emergency.
Volunteer must attend orientation and training.
All drivers must be at least 25 years of age and have a valid California driver’s license.
All drivers must obey all California traffic laws.
All drivers must possess their own vehicle.
Although secondary insurance coverage will be provided by the organization, all the Volunteer Drivers must carry primary automobile insurance.
Must annually provide insurance and driver’s license information to the Volunteer Coordinator for DMV check.
Drivers with moving violations will not be eligible to be placed in or continue in the program.

Mission or Broader Program Description: Our Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) offers volunteer opportunities uniquely designed to tap into the experience, skills, and wisdom that those age 55 and over bring.
Description: This volunteer will be working with staff to create the standard operating procedures for a brand new telecare program and to set up and oversee the management of the program's procedures. Procedures will include recruiting, matching callers with call recipients, and tracking volunteer hours on a weekly basis.

Having hands on experience with senior residents can go a long way not only professionally but also in your personal life. Our company holds ten RCFE's throughout Southern California and we focus on memory care. Doing activites with residents, helps them with their cognitive mind and at the same time helps their physical body. We need volunteers who are willing to help us make our residents feel better.
Impact: Volunteering with Seniors can prevent isolation an reduce symptoms of depression. To spend time with our residents, you receive the opportunity to improve intergenerational relationships. By being with our residents, you allow for our seniors to be active for a longer time. Finally, by volunteering it promotes mental health and you can prevent dementia progress.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: The only responsibility the volunteer has is to make sure our residents are having a great time and by just spending time with them, you are accomplishing just that!
