Light The Night Fundraiser Walk
The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma; as well as improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Event Description: Light the Night is a fun and memorable evening walk to raise money for blood cancer research and patient services.
Volunteer Role & Responsibilities:
Morning Shift: 9:30am – 3:00pm
this involves setting up for the event (i.e. unloading storage containers, hanging banners, folding t-shirts, assembling lanterns, setting up materials in different tents, etc.)
Afternoon Shift: 3:00pm – 8:00pm
our festival begins at 5:00pm and our Walk begins at 7:00pm, so this shift involves interaction with participants (i.e. registration, handing out lanterns, t-shirts, food, acting as greeters, parking directions, etc.), and tearing down the booths.
Evening Shift: 5:30pm - 10:30pm
this shift involves acting as route monitors, handing out waters, providing directions, “cheerleaders”, and then assisting with the tear down of the event.
Time Commitment: One shift from the following time slots on one of the Walk dates: 9:30am - 3pm, 3pm - 8pm, 5:30pm - 10:30pm
•Volunteers under the age of 14 must have a parent/guardian signature of approval.
•Volunteers under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian a Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors.
•Volunteers must stay their entire shift
•Dress casually and comfortably as you may be on your feet for extended periods of time.
•Please notify staff if you cannot lift heavy objects.
Saturday, October 5 – Woodland Hills
Saturday, November 9 – Century City
