Climate Action and Earth Month 2026

Choose to be in the Climate Action Community

At L.A. Works, Earth Month is more than just dates on the calendar — it’s a call to action for our community to help build a more sustainable and resilient Los Angeles.

This April, we’re advancing critical work in wildfire recovery, climate resilience, and native habitat restoration across Los Angeles. Join us as an individual, with family, or alongside colleagues – because making a difference is even better together! Roll up your sleeves, take action, and help build a stronger, more sustainable Los Angeles.

If you're concerned and want to take action to address climate issues in L.A. County, then you've found the right community!

Volunteers like yourself are always just a click away from signing up for current, hands-on, educational community projects. One page with an easy search and sign-up.

These curated projects come from our nonprofit partners who do this work around the county, 365 days a year. The L.A. Works page and Climate Action team are supported by California Volunteers and include Fellows from the California Climate Action Corps. Every 11 months, a new cohort of Fellows joins the team, bringing their expertise, creativity, and commitment to climate- focused volunteer opportunities.

More Climate Action Events

Through partnerships with local nonprofits, schools and community groups, our Climate Action team develops service events that engage community members across Los Angeles.

The Climate Action Team leads capacity-building volunteer projects in four core issue areas:

  • Urban Greening – planting native species, restoring habitats, and creating more green spaces in neighborhoods across Los Angeles

  • Organic Waste Diversion & Edible Food Recovery – helping reduce waste, rescue food, and connect it to communities in need

  • Wildfire Resilience – supporting brush clearance, invasive species removal, and defensible space creation to protect vulnerable communities

  • Community Engagement & Education – inspiring volunteers and residents with tools, training, and events that empower long-term climate solutions
