Quick Overview: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, KEEN LA has shifted our service delivery model to online virtual sessions via ZOOM. Volunteers will be paired with an athlete in a virtual zoom room and participate in predetermined activities. Volunteers will need to log in for a one hour online orientation before beginning the one hour KEEN Virtual session with the athletes. About KEEN LA: Imagine a World where ALL youth have equal opportunities for recreation, fitness, and friendship—regardless of their abilities. In the break out session you will lead the athletes to do a KEEN Exercise Bingo or you may just chat with the athlete for 10 minutes. At the end of the session a coach committee member will lead Proud Circle where athletes get to share what they're proud of accomplishing, for the non verbal and limited verbal athletes the volunteer coach will share. Requirements: A background check and signature of waivers is required . Sessions will be recorded and sections may be shared on social media. If interested, please click 'Express Interest' below. ⚙ Create Care Kits for the Homeless
Quick Overview: Want to help your neighbors experiencing homelessness during COVID-19? Assemble kits for our community's most vulnerable; individuals and families who have/are experiencing homelessness. Mission: PATH's mission is to end homelessness for individuals, families, and communities. Since 1984, PATH has worked across the state of California to deliver life saving services. While the rest of California stays at home, many of our homeless neighbors don’t have anywhere to turn. PATH will remain on the front lines to help our most vulnerable through street outreach, case management, and food support. We need volunteers like YOU to help us by sending life-saving supplies to those most in need. Impact: PATH serves over 20% of the homeless population in California, through nine interim housing shelters, 14 supportive housing communities, and dozens of outreach teams hitting the streets each day. All of these services will continue through the COVID-19 crisis. Many of those living on the streets are older, sick, or have underlying health issues. This is the group of people who are at the most risk of COVID-19. Now more than ever PATH's work is saving lives, with your support. Volunteer Drivers for Road To Recovery
Quick Overview: Volunteer drivers are needed for the Road To Recovery program. For those who cannot drive themselves or have no other means of getting to cancer-related medical appointments, volunteers donate their time to give patients a much-needed ride. Mission or Broader Program Description: The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service. To ensure quality drivers, the American Cancer Society screens every volunteer. They must also complete online training courses to prepare them for their new role.
