What is F.A.V.E.?
F.A.V.E. stands for Families Active in Volunteer Enrichment!
This is a program designed for all types of families. We have ways to engage even our youngest volunteers while still making the volunteer experience meaningful for older children, teenagers, and adults.

Each month F.A.V.E. families volunteer together to help a non-profit partner tackling important issues in Los Angeles.
Can't make it in-person? Simply order a project kit and a project will be mailed to you! The at-home kits are designed and ready to go--we’ve done all the work, coordination, and shopping for you!

We feel like it is so important for this program to be open to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. With the support from families, grants, and other donations, we are able to provide 8-12 annual in-person events for free to the community. For families who are looking for more flexible (virtual) projects, we still offer at-home kits. You can order these monthly for $45 or make a donation to receive up to 10 kits annually at $400.

Join a cohort of teens for a hands-on volunteer experience with Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR).
Meet FoLAR:
Founded 1986 by Lewis MacAdams
Friends of the Los Angeles River has spent nearly 40 years changing how Angelenos see, use, and care for the LA River — restoring habitat, improving river access, and building the next generation of environmental leaders.
FoLAR has mobilized tens of thousands of volunteers to prove that individual action, multiplied by community, changes a city's relationship with its river.

In addition to the mandatory dates, participants must attend 2 additional online meetings and 3 in person events.
